What To Wear
What To Pack
Loose trousers or a longer skirt and a light top work well for hot Manama days. Bring a layer for strong air conditioning. Mosque visits require more coverage than a hotel pool.
Money And Payments
Cash And Cards
Cards and contactless are common at Manama’s hotels, malls, and established restaurants. Keep Bahraini dinar notes and coins for smaller purchases and tips. A causeway trip into Saudi Arabia needs a separate currency and payment plan.
Travel Cards
Check Bahraini dinar conversion fees and keep the physical card. A multi currency card still needs to support the merchant’s payment network.
Tipping Culture
Hotel and restaurant staff appreciate tips. Check the service charge before adding extra. Example: if you choose 10% on a BHD 20 meal, leave BHD 2. Check the service charge first; a taxi round up is optional.
Getting Around
Getting Around Locally
Bahrain has public buses as well as taxis and booked rides. Group stops by area: Manama, Muharraq, and the southern attractions are not one walkable neighborhood.
Traveling Between Stops
Bahrain is compact, but traffic still matters. Treat a Saudi causeway trip as an international border crossing with separate entry and vehicle requirements.
Staying Connected
Using T Mobile In Bahrain
Bahrain is listed for international roaming on eligible T Mobile plans. Data allowances, speeds, and call charges depend on your plan. Check before you travel.
Mobile Data For This Trip
Have data working before arranging a ride in Manama or Muharraq. An eSIM for Bahrain does not automatically cover Saudi Arabia if you cross the causeway.
Where To Stay
Choosing Your Area
Manama suits business and city sightseeing; Muharraq puts you nearer historic streets and the airport; a southern resort means longer trips back to town. Choose around your planned stops.
Before You Arrive
Before You Fly
Use Bahrain’s official eVisa checker for your passport. Online eligibility and eligibility on arrival are separate lists with conditions. Keep your first accommodation and onward journey details ready.
Sources And My Visit
Practical information was researched and checked on 22 October 2026. My reviews describe my own visits. Area comparisons are planning advice, not hotels I claim to have inspected. Entry advice must match your passport, residency, route, and travel date.
