What To Wear
What To Pack
Prague cobbles reward comfortable shoes. Bring seasonal layers and a rain jacket; winter sightseeing needs a proper warm coat. Keep a covering layer for church visits.
Money And Payments
Cash And Cards
Cards work at hotels, larger shops, and most established restaurants. Keep koruna for smaller pubs, markets, and tips. The local currency is the Czech koruna, not the euro; choose koruna if a card terminal offers to convert the payment.
Travel Cards
Approve payments in Czech koruna rather than accepting a terminal’s offered home currency conversion without checking the rate. Keep the card separate from your cash backup.
Tipping Culture
At a sit down meal, around 10% is customary. Tell the server the total you want to pay, including the tip. Example: a CZK 500 meal plus 10% means CZK 550. Tell the server that total when paying, rather than assuming coins left later are the only way to tip.
Getting Around
Getting Around Locally
Prague’s PID network combines metro, trams, and buses. Validate paper tickets that require stamping once at the start. An app ticket must be activated and valid before entering the paid area.
Traveling Between Stops
Check the station name for intercity trains. Prague’s city ticket and Airport Express are not interchangeable. Use the official route planner for an airport connection rather than assuming there is a direct airport metro.
Staying Connected
Using T Mobile In Czech Republic
Czech Republic is listed for international roaming on eligible T Mobile plans. Data allowances, speeds, and call charges depend on your plan. Check before you travel.
Mobile Data For This Trip
Download the PID route and keep the ticket available on your phone. A dead battery can leave you without proof of an app ticket. Save your accommodation address before heading into the old streets.
Where To Stay
Choosing Your Area
Old Town suits sightseeing on foot but can be busy at night; a base beside a metro or tram stop can be more practical than an address beside every attraction. My visit was a short Prague stop.
Before You Arrive
Before You Fly
My Prague visit included six hours exploring during the Extraordinary Challenge. If you leave the airport, you need permission to enter the Schengen Area, even for a short wander. Allow time to return and clear security.
Sources And My Visit
Practical information was researched and checked on 22 October 2026. My reviews describe my own visits. Area comparisons are planning advice, not hotels I claim to have inspected. Entry advice must match your passport, residency, route, and travel date.
