What To Wear
What To Pack
Coastal Beirut, mountain villages, and religious sites need different outfits. Bring layers, walking shoes, and a modest option. Winter mountain conditions can be very different from the coast.
Money And Payments
Cash And Cards
Plan around cash rather than assuming a card will work. Many businesses quote prices in US dollars as well as Lebanese pounds. Establish the currency and amount before paying, and keep small notes for everyday purchases and tips.
Travel Cards
A foreign travel card is not a dependable replacement for cash access in Lebanon. Confirm the exact currency and accepted payment with your accommodation before arrival.
Tipping Culture
Restaurant tipping is customary. Around 10% to 15% is a useful guide. If a meal is quoted in US dollars, calculate the tip in that same currency before paying. For a US$40 equivalent bill, 10% is US$4; agree the currency if leaving Lebanese pounds.
Getting Around
Getting Around Locally
Arrange a known driver or registered ride and agree both price and currency. Road access can change with the security situation. A short map distance does not guarantee a quick or available route.
Traveling Between Stops
Do not use an old itinerary as proof that a road or border is open. Confirm current access for the actual day, and keep airport transfers flexible during disruption.
Staying Connected
Using T Mobile In Lebanon
Lebanon is excluded from T Mobile’s included international roaming benefit and international passes. Check service and charges directly before relying on roaming.
Mobile Data For This Trip
Confirm how the hotel handles power cuts and internet outages. Download contact numbers and your driver’s details. Keep a charged power bank; buying more mobile data does not solve a power outage.
Where To Stay
Choosing Your Area
Before choosing a neighborhood, check the current regional travel advice. Confirm that the property is operating and has workable electricity, water, and payment arrangements. These checks matter more than a past review.
Before You Arrive
Before You Fly
Read current travel advice and entry restrictions before booking. Lebanon can refuse entry for evidence of travel to Israel. Verify your passport history with the relevant authorities rather than assuming a visa settles everything.
Sources And My Visit
Practical information was researched and checked on 22 October 2026. My reviews describe my own visits. Area comparisons are planning advice, not hotels I claim to have inspected. Entry advice must match your passport, residency, route, and travel date.
