What To Wear
What To Pack
Covered shoulders and knees are a useful public place default for both men and women. Bring a layer for cold indoor air conditioning. Beachwear is for the beach or pool, not Souq Waqif.
Money And Payments
Cash And Cards
Cards and contactless are practical at Doha hotels, malls, and larger restaurants. Keep Qatari riyals for Souq Waqif purchases and optional tips. A metro travel card is separate from your ordinary bank card.
Travel Cards
Check Qatari riyal conversion fees. A Doha Metro travel card is a separate product; a foreign bank card is not automatically a loaded transit pass.
Tipping Culture
Restaurant and hotel tips are discretionary. Check for service charges before adding extra. Example: if you choose a 10% thank you on a QAR 100 meal without included gratuity, leave QAR 10. It is appreciated, not compulsory.
Getting Around
Getting Around Locally
Doha Metro is useful for many city trips and has an airport connection. Check the station nearest your actual entrance and whether you need a feeder bus or taxi for the final stretch.
Traveling Between Stops
A desert excursion needs arranged transport and the right vehicle and driver. A metro pass does not cover an independent trip to the dunes. Check pickup and what the excursion includes.

Using T Mobile In Qatar
Qatar is listed for international roaming on eligible T Mobile plans. Data allowances, speeds, and call charges depend on your plan. Check before you travel.

Have your hotel pin and a saved metro map ready at Hamad airport. If taking a desert trip, confirm the pickup while connected in Doha and keep it available offline.

West Bay suits modern hotels, Msheireb suits central sightseeing, and a metro connected base helps with city travel. Compare the walk from the station in the heat rather than just the map distance.
